邯郸市图书馆始建于50年代中期，其前身是文化馆图书室，1978年6月定名为邯郸市图书馆，1982年迁至人民路98号，建筑面积6000余平米。2009年7月原址拆迁，2009年9月9日邯郸市图书馆新馆开工建设，2014年9月16日正式对外开放。

Handan Library was built in the 50s, its predecessor was cultural center library. It was denominated Handan Library in June, 1978,and the library moved toNo. 98 RenMin Roadin 1982, with an area of 6000 square meters, it was dismantled in July 2009, then, on September 9, 2009 the construction of the new Handan Library begains, and it was officially opened on September 16, 2014.

    邯郸市图书馆新馆位于被誉为“城台上的美玉”--邯郸市文化艺术中心的东侧，建筑面积为30463平方米，现使用面积27500平方米，设有文学综合阅览室、社科综合阅览室、自科综合阅览室、现刊阅览室、过刊阅览室、亲子阅览室、少儿阅览室、古籍阅览室、地方文献阅览室、政府公开信息阅览室、参考工具书阅览室等18个服务窗口，读者坐席达1000余个。图书借阅和报刊阅览全部实行开架借阅，同时为读者提供信息咨询、资料复印、代查文献等服务。全馆布有网络节点1000余个，实现了WiFi无线网络全覆盖；设有展厅、多功能报告厅，可开展多层次的文化服务活动。

    The new Handan Library is known as “A beautiful jade in the city”, it was located on the east side of Handan Culture andArtsCenter, the construction area is 30463 square meters, and the usable floor area is 27500 square meters. It contains 8 public service windows, such as, Literature Reading Room, Social Science Reading Room and the Natural Science  Reading Room, Periodical Reading Room, Back Issue Reading Room, the Parents and Children's reading room, Ancient Literature Reading Room, the Local Literature Reading Room, Government Information Reading Room, Reference Books Reading Room, and so on. The library owes more than 1000 seats for readers. All the books and periodicals are on open-shelves. At the same time, Handan Library provides information consulting service, document copying service, literature searching service. There are more than 1000 network nodes in the library, which makes a complete coverage of the Wi-Fi network within the library. Equipped with the exhibition hall, multi-function hall, Handan Library conducts multi-level cultural services for the citizens.

    邯郸市图书馆现有纸质藏书50余万册（件），订阅报刊1300余种。特色馆藏资料有：部分清代古籍善本图书；影印本《四库全书》、《四库全书存目丛书》、《永乐大典》、《古今图书集成》及部分线装地方史志；《人民日报》从1946年到现在都有收藏；《申报》从1919年到1949年均藏有影印本；还收藏地方文献即邯郸籍作者出版的或内容涉及我市政治、经济、文化、历史、科技等社会生活各个方面的专著、作品、论文集等1200余种。邯郸市图书馆建有高标准数字图书馆（www.sztsg.net），拥有万方数据、清华同方(ＣＮＫＩ)、方正电子图书库、超星电子图书库4个数据资源库和超星读秀检索平台，7千余种数字期刊，20万册电子图书，供读者免费查询和下载。

    Handan Library comprises more than 50 volumes , subscribing to more than 1300 kinds of newspaper. Characteristic library collections are: some books in the Qing Dynasty ;Copies of 《Si Ku Quan Shu》, 《Yong Le Da Dian》,《Gu Jin Tu Shu Ji Cheng》,and some thread-bound local chronicles. The People's Daily from 1946 to the present collection, copies of journal《Shen Bao》from 1919 to 1949. Handan Library also collects local literature that published by the native authors of Handan, the content involved in all aspects of social life, such as, city politics, economy, culture, history, science and technology and so on, there are more than 1200 kinds of monographs, literature works and essays. Handan Library owns a high standard of digital library (www.sztsg.net), which contains ten thousand square data. There are four data repositories, such as, TsingHuatongfang online library (CNKI), Founder, Superstar electronics online library and Superstar reading show retrieval platform. There are more than 7000 kinds of digital journals, 200000 copies of electronic books for readers to query and download for free.

    邯郸市图书馆新馆实现了图书馆服务的自动化、智能化、网络化和数字化。其中在业务管理与服务中采用无线射频识别（ＲＦＩＤ）技术，实现了自助办证、自动查询、自助借还服务；同时采用大型电子触摸读报屏、电子图书借阅机等现代化手段为您带来多样化的阅读体验，无线网络全馆覆盖让您随时随地享受高速便捷的网络服务，还设有24小时街区自助图书馆，并实现了在手机APP上图书续借、查询等服务。

    The new Handan Library implements the automation and intelligence, network and digital library service. The advanced technique radio frequency identification (RFID) is used in service management, which helps the self-registration, automatic query, self-help borrowing services. Both the electronic touch screens for reading newspapers, and the electronic books reading machines bring you a variety of reading experiences. Complete coverage of wireless network, allows you to enjoy high speed network anytime and anywhere within the library. The library sets the 24 hour blocks self-service library, and develops Handan Library App, which makes the readers renew and query books or manage other services on the app.

    邯郸市图书馆自新馆开馆以来，立足本职，开拓创新，加强世界读书日、图书馆服务宣传周、全民读书月的阅读推广工作，定期举办公益讲座、少儿绘本课、公益英语角、新书好书荐读活动，打造了一系列读书品牌，如：邯郸少年读书活动、真人图书馆活动、故事妈妈（爸爸）开讲啦、倾情诵读感悟经典诗词诵读会、迎新春对春联活动等，吸引了更多的市民走进图书馆，多读书，读好书。

    Since opening, Handan Library sticks to official duty, keeps innovating, strengthen the publicity of the World Reading Day, weekly library services, citizen reading month. We regularly organize public lectures, children’s picture book story, English Corner, recommendation of new books and so on, we have created a series of brand reading activities, such as: Handan children’s reading activities, living library reading activities, Mummy(Daddy) Tell Me A Story, the  classics reading activity, the Spring Festival Couplets Collecting activity and so on, these activities have attracted many citizens to take part in the activities and sit down in the reading room to read books.
